If you’re anything like me, you long for some movies and television shows you can enjoy with your family. Well today you’re in luck. I know for myself I have taken advantage of the wonderful service known as Netflix and more than likely so have you. BUT! Have you ever heard of Pureflix?

Unless you’re purposely looking, you probably have not. Pureflix allows you to stream family friendly movies from the comfort of your home.

  • Name: PureFlix
  • Website: PureFlix.com
  • Cost: FREE 30-day trial then $10.99/month or $99.99/year
  • Recommended: YES! it has an extensive catalog of family-friendly & Christian movies, although it does not carry some of the most popular titles published “YET!”.

What Is Pure Flix?

PureFlix is an American independent Christian film and television studio, founded in 2005 by David A. R. White, Michael Scott, Russell Wolfe and Elizabeth Travis. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company produces, distributes, acquires and markets Christian and family-friendly films.

Since its foundation, the company has created such films as The Wager, Home Beyond the SunIn the Blink of an EyeSarah’s ChoiceA Greater Yes: The Story of Amy NewhouseThe Book of Ruth: Journey of Faith and Holyman Undercover. They also produced the first two seasons of TBN’s Travel the Road & God’s Not Dead (2014) earning over $60 million in the U.S. box-office and was released in digital format by Lionsgate on August 5, 2014.

Since late 2015, Pure Flix became a subscription based streaming service, similar to Netflix. But PureFlix only streams films and shows that are faith based or family friendly.

How To Watch Pure Flix

When you become a member of PureFlix you will have different ways to watch you favorite movies.

  • You can stream from your computer
  • The mobile app.
  • Roku
  • Google Chromecast
  • Amazon FireTV
  • & Apple TV

And my favorite part is… PureFlix is only $10.99 per month or $99.99 for an entire year subscription. If you’re a little apprehensive about signing up Pure Flix offers a 30-day free trial period.

In addition to all of what I just mentioned you can stream PureFlix on up to six devices which is good for me with my 3 children streaming on their tablets all the time. Unlike Netflix which currently allows you to stream on two devices.

Why PureFlix?

Below is a short introductory video about Pure Flix:

 Why Should I Use Pureflix?

When Netflix has a larger presence in online streaming. Netflix has exclusive Christian and family friendly titles. Netflix also has more of the recent and popular titles available to stream that PureFlix doesn’t have yet.

Here is a reason to use PureFlix instead of or maybe in addition to Netflix.

You’re helping to build the kingdom of God by supporting a Christian organization like Pureflix. PureFlix is very similar to Netflix when they began. Their movie selection is limited but growing.

My Experience With PureFlix

I was curious to see what titles a Christian streaming service could offer. I decided to give the 30 day free trial a shot. I was pleasantly surprised by some of their series. My daughter and I have been enjoying their service. They don’t offer recommendations based on your previous viewing history YET!

It is a love/hate relationship with any streaming service and the available movie selection. No one service has every movie available. For example, you can’t stream Star Wars episodes on Netflix but you can rent them on DVD.

With PureFlix, I have only had very little playback issues where the stream will halt and buffer but I’ve had good resolution. The service has been surprisingly super reliable.

I do wish they would be able to add some old school cartoons like Thundercats, Transformers, G.I. Joe or He-Man maybe even some Mighty Mouse of Popeye for example. But as I said before, no streaming service offers everything.

“If you’re looking for a streaming service that focuses on Christian entertainment, PureFlix would be a good option to add to your streaming choices.”
